Constantly present or only if you want to move your arm, may indicate osteoarthritis in the shoulder. Additional complaints may be that your shoulder hurts at night, that your shoulder creaks with movement and that you can use your arm less well.

Sometimes this also goes together with osteoarthritis of the cervical column. This can cause a radiating pain from the neck to the shoulder.

Occupational therapy will primarily consist of stretching and other passive exercises that will primarily help you to restore your movement patterns from the shoulder and to ease the pain.

Once the pain is under control again, your occupational therapist will teach you a number of exercises that will help you to restore the strength in your arm and your shoulder.
